Last.fm Rebrands Site, Upsets Everybody
Oh dear, there’s a bit of backlash against Last.fm‘s new look-and-feel. Personally, I don’t think it’s that bad. I’m not a subscriber, but I got an invite to preview the beta site a couple of weeks ago. My initial reaction was not that positive, but it grew on me, and some things are more sensible in the new layout. The site is a bit sluggish though. I get a few spinning-beachballs-of-death when browsing with Opera on OS X. Hopefully these problems will be resolved in the coming weeks.
It’s not just the performance that’s upsetting people though. Here’s a selection of some of the comments on the original announcement (the mood seems to be about 20% in favour, 80% against):
i hate it.
This new layout really sucks big time!
This is craptastic. Nothing works.
It’s kind of horrific-looking. How do I change it back?
No, no, no. This is horrible. Is there any way to get back the old version?
Oh my god.. I was realy like this site till this horrible version.. I think about delete my acount because I just cant stand this version…
I just lost all interest in visiting this site ever again. I DON’T WANT TO BE A SUBSCRIBER ANYMORE. I want my money back.
Congrats, Last.fm looks like a bad version of Facebook.
THIS IS BOLLOCKS
Everyone’s a critic
Unfortunately, people don’t like change. The complete overhaul of the website has unsettled a lot of users by moving things around.

Well, it’s not just that, last.fm now cannot be reached anymore. It tells me to enjoy a cup of tea, while I wait for them to get their databases back up again…
